Ending Child Marriage: Progress and Trends

Child marriage is becoming less common around the world, with the proportion of women who were married in childhood dropping from one in four to approximately one in five in the past decade. The new figures mean that 25 million child marriage have been averted in in the past ten years. However, to end the practice by 2030 – the target set out in the Sustainable Development Goals – progress must be significantly accelerated.
