Adolescent Mental Health
Lessons from Belize (Webinar)
July 24, 2019
Mental health issues constitute a major burden of disease for adolescents, with suicide being the third leading cause of death for adolescents aged 15-19. Stigma, lack of awareness, and low resource allocation for mental health programmes all contribute to making mental health one of the most debilitating and neglected challenges for individuals as well as their families and communities. Data on adolescents’ mental health are therefore urgently needed to guide effective prevention and treatment programmes and to inform decisions about resource allocation. This webinar shares insights on recent field work conducted in mid-June in Belize.
